Celebrate Earth Day with These Eco-Friendly Life Hacks

The Coronavirus pandemic is bringing to light how fragile and precious our environment on earth truly is. As the human population grows, the impact on the earth and climate disrupts the natural habitats and food sources of wild animals that may harbor viruses that eventually make contact with domestic animals or humans.
We all have a responsibility to take action to protect our eco-systems to ensure the health of earth’s inhabitants, human and animal, now and in future generations. Celebrate Earth Day this year by making permanent changes in your family’s habits and routines that will have a positive impact on the planet.
  • Ban single-use plastics in your home.
    • Stop buying plastic water bottles and, instead, buy everyone their own reusable water bottle.
    • Use reusable containers or silicone bags instead of plastic food storage bags.
    • Use reusable produce bags at the grocery store.
    • Remember to take your reusable shopping bags with you everywhere– not just the grocery store.
    • Buy refills for cleaning products and reuse the same spray bottles or dispensers over and over.
    • Say no to straws when eating out.
    • Stop using disposable utensils and plates at home.
    • Recycle the plastics you do use.
  • Watch your water usage.
    • Make sure your irrigation system is running at the coolest time of day and is shut off completely during rainy weather.
    • Don’t let the kitchen or bathroom tap run unnecessarily.
  • Use less energy.
    • Switch lightbulbs to LED bulbs.
    • Shut off appliances and computers when not in use.
    • Wash your clothes in cold water.
    • Carpool, ride share, bike or walk!

Today my parents closed escrow on Klamath. My mom says:

It is with an extremely grateful heart that I write this post. With all that is going on in the world, it feels a little bit strange to be celebrating the close of escrow on this property today. My family and I have so many great memories of this project - from the acquisition to the completion to the sale - and we adore the new couple that will be moving in. We are so excited for them to begin their new life together in this home. 🏠⁣⁣⁣

A huge shout out and thank you to everyone who helped to make this transaction happen. We are a team, and we did this together! Thank you! ⁣⁣

The first thing people will see when you list a home are the pictures. This is why hiring a professional photographer is imperative to make sure your home makes a good first impression. Don't worry, as your listing agent I will take care of all this for you, but I will need some help from you!

In order for your home to stand out, we will need your help preparing for the "big day" - aka Photoshoot. I love to refer to this blog post for a great list of tips to get your home ready.

Just kidding there is another update! There was a full price offer for Klamath and my parents really like the family so this completes the journey of completing/remodeling The Lightning House.

Go visit my Moms Instagram to see more pictures and updates on this house and other houses they have completed at @carahipwellrealestate.

This is probably the last update! Yesterday the house went live on the MLS. On Friday my parents hosted a neighborhood block party/ potluck at Klamath. Then on Tuesday, January 21st the home was opened up to brokers and realtors to come tour and this weekend we will have the first public open house. My parents also had 2 people express that they were interested in purchasing and at the broker tour another person came interested because he had been following the project on Instagram! Go check out the Open House you won’t regret it. My mom even has a taco person come to her open houses!

The house is ready to be listed on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) for sale! My mom started running some ads to "build buzz" for the home. The description will read: Custom luxury home with panoramic city light and mountain views situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a highly desirable area of San Dimas. This modern home boasts many desirable features as you enter through the Neoporte steel front door into the formal living area with 20 ft ceilings. Enjoy the incredible city lights view through the La Cantina accordion doors on the first floor, or relax by one of the 3 fireplaces throughout the home. The fully appointed kitchen features brand new, top of the line appliances by Thermador including 48’’ refrigerator, 99 bottle built-in wine cooler and 2 dishwashers. Upstairs you will find a huge master bedroom complete with La Cantina accordion doors which lead you to a balcony and sitting area. The master bathroom does not disappoint with rain shower and multiple body sprays, as well as a Thermosol steam unit alongside a large bathtub and dual vanities. Also upstairs, enjoy mountain views from the large 358 sq ft bonus room where the possibilities are endless. Wired sound system throughout home. Outside you will find a new concrete driveway that leads to a 16’ x 50? concrete RV parking area behind a gate, and beautiful yard complete with an automated sprinkler system. Located in the award winning Bonita Unified School District close to the 210 and 57 freeways, this home will not disappoint.
HOLY COW! How time flies! The house is already completed, and decorated. Just after Christmas the City signed the final permit, so they were able to contact the gas company to get gas turned on this week! Photographers came out yesterday to take pictures for all the marketing materials. Over Christmas break mulch was also laid down, some more plants were planted, hardware in the bathrooms and the rest of the house were put in. The garage was painted and little things were corrected for the Open House coming up!
